Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV) 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight
is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Words for the Day

King David was not perfect but he pursued God most of his life with everything that
he had. These verses are important in helping us to understand the priorities of
a Godly life.

First, we must recognize the danger of ungodly counsel. Ungodly counsel is in great
abundance today. Ungodly counsel is always about looking out for you first. Most
people don't hear nor do they have access to godly counsel. Godly counsel is advice
or wisdom based on God's word and principles. The ungodly counsel of the wicked
is based on the world's principles and selfishness. This counsel usually sounds
good when you first hear it and we may even believe it until we measure it using
the Word of God. When I am looking for advice I always want to base it or measure
it from God's Word and principles. If that is not the source then there is no blessing
in that counsel.

Finally, this passage says that the blessed person meditates on the Word and counsel
of God day and night. This means that God's wisdom and counsel is your number one
pursuit. It means that you will not settle for worldly wisdom or counsel. You don't
go after it and you reject it immediately when you hear it because you want God's
blessing. We must delight in or pursue Godly wisdom. This means that when we find
it, we retain it, and most importantly, we obey it.

Today, ask God to give you a heart that wants His wisdom and a mind to meditate
and pursue Him for council. When you have to make a decision today ask God and Godly
advisors FIRST and walk in this cousel. You life will be blessed.
